Day 8 - The Overlooking Chinar Tree

I personally loved making this one, I've always wanted to do chinar in colour, I've done in with pencil shading before. This is oil on handmade paper, using palette knife and brushes. Technically, oil colours ought to be done on canvas, but canvas is costly and I'm just practising, so I used handmade paper. When I do oil on canvas, I go for several coats, large canvases, and take months to do so due to long drying time. This was done in a couple of hours - I applied a very thin coat for the sky and water, and used the palette knife for the mountain.
Then I left it for a while, then did the tree and the two shikaras. For the tree, I used a lot of autumn colours - Vandyke brown, Scarlet Lake, Indian Yellow, Gold ochre transparent, Raw umber, Burnt Umber, Indigo, and white. As a last minute thing, I did some of the darkest branches with the palette knife to make them stand out.

Day 7 - Kittens

6B, 2B and 4B pencils used on 130 gsm paper. Pen used to highlight in certain places, to differentiate from background. I might be adopting kittens myself, so I drew this in the anticipation. :)

Day 6 - Lake of Lotuses

This is not exactly the product of one day, but 10. I've been working on this in my painting class. Today I had to get it framed and do last minute touch up, so I did not get time for my art of the day,so thought of uploading it. It has been done using palette knife, a technique called knife painting. Oil on canvas.

Day 5 - Seascape in oil pastel

This was more on the experimental side. I have used normal oil pastel, rather than the soft pastels used for misty mountains. The paper used was handmade paper with more tooth than smoothness.

Day 4 - underwater scene

I saw a picture of this fish on facebook, someone took this picture at singapore aquarium. It's not come out as good as I wanted it to, maybe because of the choice of my medium. I used water colour, and have given certain highlights with oil pastel.
